Baptism

WorshipGive

Adults seeking baptism and parents wishing to have their children baptized must attend a one session class on Baptism. The class focuses on the theology, history and liturgy of the sacrament. Classes are held within two weeks of each scheduled baptism, as arranged with the Rector. Godparents and sponsors are urged to attend to enrich their participation in both the ceremony and in living out their role. Parishioners may also attend this educational program. The Parish Administrator works with the office staff, contacts sponsors/Godparents to schedule the class. The program includes teaching, facilitating discussion, and leading prayer.

Q. What is Holy Baptism?
A. For Christians, Holy Baptism is the sacrament by which God adopts us as his people and makes us members of Christ’s Body, the Church, and inheritors of the kingdom of God.

Q. What is the outward and visible sign in Baptism?
A. The outward and visible sign in Baptism is water, in which the person is baptized in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. (Book of Common Prayer, 858)
